Mg-Al-Zn coated steel offers three main advantages over hot-dip galvanized steel:

1. Superior corrosion resistance - It performs over 10 times better in salt spray tests due to magnesium's role in forming dense protective layers that block further corrosion.

2. Enhanced mechanical durability - The coating is harder and more resistant to stone chipping. Damage pits are shallower, and red rust appears much later than with traditional zinc coatings.

3. Better edge protection - It provides superior protection at cut edges and confined areas where standard galvanized steel typically fails first.

These advantages stem from magnesium's ability to stabilize protective corrosion products and buffer pH at the steel surface, resulting in significantly longer service life.
